We hear a lot about “wokeness” these days. From what I understand, “wokeness”, in churches anyway, is an adaptation of a gospel that conforms to the social dictates of today instead of Gods Truth. A gospel that is acceptable and approved by a fallen world. The social dictates are basically that there are oppressors and the oppressed. The church is cast as the oppressor. We, believing we are privy to the Truth and have accepted it, oppress those outside the church because they are seen as “other”.
1. We represent ourselves as, saved, blessed, pure, holy, accepted, and honorable.
2. While this would make others, by contrast, lost, afflicted, dirty, debauched, marginalized, and corrupt.
Hold on to your hat’s folks – because the last two sentences are true! Are we not, by believing in the Grace of a loving and atoning God, saved, blessed, pure, holy, accepted and honorable? And are those who do not believe, condemned by their unbelief? The fallen world believes and accepts the oppressor/oppressed dichotomy because the fallen world doesn’t realize, (nor does the woke church) that it is only by the Grace of God that we have these attributes, and it is NOT of our own doing. (by the way, a Grace offered to everyone) So, the woke church must apologize and make atonement themselves for making the world think it needs to change because they have it wrong and we have it right. After all, doesn’t God love them no matter what they have done or do? Doesn’t God meet them where they are and accept them as they are? God loves us, no matter what we have done or do. Right? Everyone is accepted and acceptable. The main problem is that we Christians hate. And hate has no home here, or anywhere. Right? After all we should want peace, shouldn’t we? God is all about peace and love, isn’t he? So how does the woke church present the Word of God in a manner that is acceptable to the fallen world and “smooths” things over?
Actually, we learned early on, how to do this. A serpent taught us. And it’s simply a matter of poor punctuation.
In Genesis 2:16b God said – “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat. Except I put a period where a semicolon was. A semicolon joins two or more thoughts or ideas in a sentence and those ideas are given equal rank. The serpent obscures the semicolon and questions - Did God really say? The serpents’ purposes are served by bad punctuation and truncating the truth.
Let me give you some other examples:
For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world.
So, the world is not condemned. Yea!
I can do all things. Here me roar!
Neither do I condemn you. You’re fine. If it feels good, do it. God made you that way, didn’t he? Have fun!
That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. Of course, “man” needs to be replaced by “person” in order to include everyone. Gotta be inclusive. Everyone has THE Light. Every must mean every.
“Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world!”
So, what’s the problem with what I do, Christian. No need to ever mention anything about sin. It’s been taken away. Mentioning it would just be offensive to me and prove you are judgmental.
And speaking of judgmental – Judge not and you shall not be judged – Jesus even said – “I did not come to judge the world”. After all, THAT’S IN THE BIBLE!! So shut up with your talk of sin, judgement and repentance! Evil and divisive Bible believing Christian that you are! You are the problem! You take all the fun out of life with all your sin and hate talk. Why would anyone want that?
And the OLD Testament. Don’t get me started. That was just a bunch of stone aged people telling myths and fairy tales and killing each other because the mean old god of that time told them to. We don’t need to pay attention to anything in the Old Testament. That mean old god with his rules, regulations and judgements. All that is so outdated anyway. We no longer live in the stone age, and are so much more civilized and advanced then they were. That mean old god has now been replaced by the New Testaments, loving, meek, mild mannered, caring and milk toasty, maybe or maybe not god person. After all he never said he was god, did he? He could have been a woman, gay, or transgender, or married to Mary Magdalene (after all there was a very popular movie that said so). This god looks past sin so there is no need to atone for it. What sin anyway, when you look past something, it’s just like it doesn’t exist. This god loves us just the way we are. He is just like us! Actually, this god is us.
Your church may not be completely woke yet. But if any of these half-truths (which are actually full lies) are conveyed to unbelievers to comfort them, or assuage our supposed guilt, to get them to come to church and or make them feel better about themselves, you will need to continue with the lies in order to keep them coming and keep them feeling good about themselves. You will get further and further away from the whole council of God.
We can’t pick and choose what we want the truth to be. We must learn, know and understand, teach and preach the whole council of God. We cannot appease the world. We must follow God.
By God’s undeserved and free grace:
1. We are, saved, blessed, pure, holy, accepted, and honorable.
Because without accepting God’s freely given grace that is provided by His atoning sacrifice the unbeliever is:
2. Lost, afflicted, dirty, debauched, marginalized, and corrupt. As we once were.
Here is the Truth:
Joh 3:17 "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
21 "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."
We are saved by the Grace of God and should be thankful to God for it and boldly proclaim it, not shamed by the world because of it. God’s Grace is for all who accept it. We do not reject anyone; they are rejected already by their unbelief! Let’s help others to see their need for God’s Grace, and accept it too!
